How much time do I have to complete the course?
Once you login into the course and activate your account, you will have 90 days to complete the course.

How long is each session?
Each session is 90 minutes. The sessions include video of Heather with visual PowerPoint slides. There is a link in each session for you to print out your own handouts of these slides so you can follow along and take notes. Also included in each session is Heather answering questions from other parents who previously took this course in order to give you more application as to how to apply the material she is presenting.

Can this course be taken on mobile devices or tablets?
Yes. However, this course is mostly video content. It is highly recommended that you are connected to wifi instead of your mobile phone network, as additional rates may apply. Be sure to check with your mobile carrier on your data limits. Also, as with any internet connection, your sessions videos can only load as fast as your internet/mobile connection will allow them.

Do I get a chance to ask Heather any questions?
Nope. Since this is not a live class, asking questions directly to Heather is not an option. However, Heather runs a live class a few times a year and you can ask as many questions as you’d like directly to Heather in this course. If this option is important to you, perhaps her live class would be a better fit for you. You can find the schedule of her live classes at: www.beyondconsequencesonline.com

Is the course just for parents who have adopted?
No. This is for any parent struggling with a child who is exhibiting difficult to severe behaviors. We have found that a large percentage of the parents taking this course are adoptive parents, so some of the questions Heather answers from parents may be related to adoption. However, adoption related issues are not the direct focus of this course. The focus is working to repair and rebuild any family who is experiencing challenges from their children that fall beyond the norm.

I'm a professional, will this course be beneficial for me?
Absolutely! By listening to Heather answer “real-life” questions from parents who are struggling, you will gain valuable insight on how to also help the families with whom you serve. Many professionals have taken this course and later remarked on how their confidence in helping parents exponentially increased and how they are now truly able to help the most difficult cases on their caseloads.

Does this course apply to children of all ages? Or just the preteens?
This course is for children of all ages. Heather has been mindful to include examples of children ranging from two to twenty. On a broader level, this course is also about learning to understand how our behavior as humans changes in the face of fear and stress. Thus, it can help in your marriage or partnership, or even with your boss!

Does this course count for continuing education or foster care credit?
Due to our inability to monitor your attendance, we cannot issue professional continuing education credits from a licensing board for this course. However, you will receive a certificate of completion when all 10-sessions are completed (as recorded by the computer). Some licensing boards and foster care agencies may accept this certificate. We encourage you to ask these governing entities prior to signing up for this course if this is a needed requirement for you.

Once I purchase my registration, how to I activate my class?
You will immediately receive a confirmation Email with the link to activate your account. If you do not receive this Email in your inbox, be sure to check your spam folder. Since this confirmation Email comes from a large central server, some Email programs read it as spam.

What if I have issues activating my account or logging into the system, is there tech support available?
You can contact our on-staff technical advisor either by Email or by phone during regular working hours. We are here to ensure you have a stress-free experience!

If I can't finish a session in one sitting, how do I go back to where I left off?
Each video session has a “pause” button. You can pause the video at any point and then simply hit the "play" button to resume your session (as long as you stay logged in to that session). If you need to close down your browser and logout, we suggest making note of where you are stopping the video (there is a timer that gives you this information). Then, when you login again, simply fast forward to this point and you’ll be picking up right where you left off.
